Bot has marked files that are pending VRT

[edit]

Hello, the bot has marked some recent files of mine for deletion. These are a bunch of images someone else made that I uploaded with their permission. They are pending VRT (and are listed as such in the files). I've looked through your conversation with IceWelder here and just want to make sure I've got this right before acting: Should I just add the intended license myself, even though VRT is still pending? And if that's done, am I free to just remove the deletion tag myself? Many apologies, this is my first attempt uploading images in this manner.

Same with me. The upload wizard doesn't ask the license in this case, so I get flagged by the bot. Last time my image was also temporarily deleted pending the VRT review, which took a few weeks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alenoach (talk • contribs) 07:55, 5 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Alenoach, AxonsArachnida: This is the first I've heard about the UploadWizard issue, but it looks like phab:T391600 has been filed to fix that problem. Hopefully that gets fixed soon. The easiest thing to do for now is probably to use the "The creator has released or published this work under a free license e.g. Creative Commons license" option in the UploadWizard to select the correct license if known, and then add {{Permission pending}} to the "Any other information you want to include" box in the next step. And yes, you can remove the AntiCompositeBot no license tag if you've added a license. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 14:10, 5 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Cheers. I'll do it that way in future uploads. AxonsArachnida (talk) 20:20, 5 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Why you taged nearly all files I recently upload via 'uplaod wizard' from flikr? All are CC BY licenced. --Elmepi (talk) 15:41, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Elmepi, this is a bot account and it automatically tags files without licenses, and the recent files you uploaded were uploaded without any licenses. I have added some of them back (see [1]), but perhaps you can complete the rest. You can just remove the “no license” tag once you finished and no need to convert them to DRs. So a had to manually add on every file the licence and "FlickrReview" to trigger Flick review? --Elmepi (talk) 04:01, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Manually adding does works, but it is annoying. Why does this happened? I uploaded thousands of files from flickr previously, never having licence problems. --Elmepi (talk) 04:25, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Elmepi It’s not just you, other users also have this problem currently. I heard it is due to Flickr changed its API recently when they introduced the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, and the Commons tools haven’t caught up with the change. So until the problem is fixed, you do have to manually add the license and FlickrReview templates. Tvpuppy (talk) 10:59, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Nice to hear it is not just me :-) Tanks for your support! --Elmepi (talk) 13:48, 26 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
